From the couple on their Berkeley City Club Wedding:
We kept our wedding pretty classic to keep in theme with the historical architecture and history of our venue, but with some personal touches and smaller details. The color palette included whites, creams, emerald greens, black, grays, and wood. We picked our venue for it’s historic architecture and decor, so we relied on the venue to speak for itself with small additions like florals and candles. We added personal touches like framed photos and signs; all décor besides the florals were DIY and some were contributions from family members and even our coordinator.
Theme:
To keep to the classic theme, we kept the flowers white and green. Flowers were included in all aspects of the day – bouquets, boutonnieres, altar pieces, family ceremony rows, and centerpieces. Due to keeping it classic and leaning into the architectural history of our venue, our flowers were the main décor. Their role was to highlight the space we were in. Our florist did a wonderful job in keeping it classic, but with a hint of the winter season.
Highlights:
Some of our favorite parts of the wedding were our personal touches – having both our parents walk us down the aisle, having long time friends officiate and share a toast, sharing a prayer before dinner, and playing a song our friends made about us for our dinner arrival. Our wedding day fashion stuck with the theme of classic with subtle personal touches.
Wedding Style:
The groom’s fashion included black pants, white shirt, gray coat with a black lapel, and a black bow tie. The groomsmen wore all gray suites, white shirts, and black ties. The men’s fashion specifically highlighted the groom with smaller, but noticeable differences.
The bride’s fashion included a timeless feel, but with smaller details of floral and personal touches. Jessica, bride’s, dress included a romantic ball gown with a simple bodice and subtle, laced flowers flowing down into the train. The bride’s personal touches included platform FILA sneakers with ribbon laces, gold jewelry, and a white faux fur coat. The bridesmaids wore emerald green dress of all different styles with touches of gold in their jewelry and hair accessories.
Ceremony:
The most special moment of our wedding day was our vows. Having lived together, we wrote our vows in the same space as the other. Both of us were definitely looking forward to hearing and sharing our vows with each other.
Our Story:
We met back in our first year of college and started dating year two. We got engaged 6 years later on a small, secluded beach in Malibu.
The proposal was supposed to be a film shoot for our friend’s job and we were going to be the background extras. Instead, we were the main characters and our friend was secretly photographing our engagement from behind a rock. As far as wedding planning goes, we would not have felt so secure and confident on the big day without our day of coordinator. We highly recommend working with a coordinator for the planning and or the day of.
