From the couple:

Blythe went to the Hamlin school kindergarten through eighth grade. She thinks of it as an integral place in her childhood and wanted to celebrate her wedding somewhere really special. Somon and Blythe are both relatively playful and young at heart so it seemed fun to have it in a school. It also helps that the school is in an old San Francisco mansion with beautiful views!

Florals:

Blythe wanted the florals to be the centerpiece of the decorations. She wanted them to be very colorful and overflowing with greenery to match the flower and leaves motif on her dress.

Vows:

We really wanted the vows to be personal so we had them as part of our first look and did a shortened modified version of them at the ceremony. Also, we had Blythe’s cousin be our officiant, which felt much more intimate and made us both emotional. We also really loved our first dance and think it was a hit!

Wedding Style:

Blythe found her dress from Panache Bridal, a store she first heard about almost 10 years ago and knew she wanted to go to for her dress. When she got to the bridal store, the first dress she saw ended up being the one. The dress was inspired by the ballet Swan Lake, and since Blythe grew up doing ballet, she thought it was kismet. Even more exciting was that the dress was designed by an up and coming designer, Sareh Nouri, who happens to be Persian, just like Somon’s dad!

Somon wanted to get a custom suit because he hadn’t gotten one before and what better occasion to do it! He wanted a dark blue one to be right on the border of semi-formal and formal. Blythe chose his tie because it matched his suit and had flowers on it that matched her dress (although he didn’t know it at the time!)

Our Story:

We met in college during Blythe’s sophomore year and Somon’s junior year. We had no idea at the time that we would end up dating let alone getting married, but seven years later to the day, we did it!!

Somon proposed to Blythe in Paris during a trip there in May 2018. Somon told Blythe there was a private tour of the Luxembourg Gardens. While Blythe didn’t tell him, she was kind of expecting a proposal then. When we got to the gardens, we met our “tour guide” who was really a photographer, and Somon proposed before our tour started, in front of the Medici Fountain. It was absolutely perfect.

Advice:

It’s hard to find a balance between making a fun party for all of your guests and making it the perfect day for you. You aren’t going to please everyone, so while it should still be a party for everyone else, do whatever will make you happy. All those who love and support you will go along and love it!
