From the couple:

Our color scheme was dusty blue, dusty rose/blush, white, hints of greenery and gold. We wanted an outdoor wedding near the water, with a relaxed vibe, and we were thrilled to find an intimate garden venue near the Bay in Tiburon. Therefore, we chose blue as one of our colors because we both love the water. We are not religious, but we feel closest to God when we are outdoors. Having the ceremony outdoors surrounded by nature was everything.

Wedding Florals:

The ceremony was under an arbor that my mom made, overlooking the garden and the water which you can see in these Landmarks Art & Garden Center Wedding Photos. My mom and I went to the SF flower market on Friday morning to pick out the flowers. We chose blue and white hydrangeas, blush and white roses, blush dahlias, white stalks, and white gardenias for each table, with eucalyptus and mint accents for greenery. The floral arrangements and bouquets felt extra special because my mom made them.

Wedding Music:

Matt loves Pearl Jam, and we were happy to find musicians willing to play a string version of ‘Yellow Ledbetter’ for our processional. I chose ‘Moon River’ to walk down the aisle to– Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of my favorite movies.

Wedding Reception:

We wanted the food to have a casual, light and summery feel. So, we chose Forkfull of Earth Catering in Marin, because it was important to us that the food be clean, organic and locally sourced. We DIY’d almost everything, from the signs to the flowers. Matt made a three hole toss game for the lawn, a game he and his friends played in college. All the DIY-ing was a lot of work, but it made the wedding experience feel more memorable and unique to us.

Wedding Style:

I knew I wanted a v neck with an open back, and I wanted the dress to have simple lines. My shoes were my ‘something blue’, and I asked my seamstress make a dusty blue bow for the back of the dress. I found a veil with a floral trim, and I loved how my veil complimented the garden setting.

Matt wore a navy blue suit and a light blue tie. He looks great in blue.

Our Story:

Matt and I met in Oakland after connecting on Bumble. We lived together in Oakland and then Burlingame, where we live now. Matt proposed on a hike in Santa Barbara, on a hillside overlooking the ocean. We love the California coast and being outdoors.

Choreographed Dance:

I’m a former dancer, so we decided to choreograph a fun, upbeat first dance that would hopefully be more entertaining for guests than a traditional slow dance. We danced to ‘Opposites Attract’ by Paula Abdul, because the song reminds us both of our childhoods, and Matt and I are opposites in many ways. We were a little nervous, because we waited until the last minute to choreograph it and only rehearsed it a few times, but it turned out to be a really fun moment!

Highlights & Advice:

Another special moment I wasn’t anticipating was our sparkler send-off. I wasn’t expecting it to feel as special as it did, and guests commented afterwards how nice it turned out. Enjoy the process and don’t be afraid to ask for what you want/need. I was worried about coming off as a bride-zilla or micromanaging too much, but in the end it’s your day, and the people who love you truly want to help you make your vision a reality!
