From the couple:
We wanted our wedding day to be on June 7th – the same day we started dating and got engaged. We wanted the day to be simple, yet beautiful, romantic, fun, and we wanted to share it with our close family and friends. Our style was based on what we truly wanted.
Style:
My dress was perfect – I loved the detailed beading on the upper body. Benji wanted a dark green suit which turned out to be amazing. The pop of blush was perfect in complimenting our outfits and venues. We shared personal stories during our ceremony (Benji’s was hilarious).
Ceremony:
During our ceremony we incorporated a specific table greet toast (common at Cambodian Weddings) in which the bride must “work” to get an envelope of gifts from the members of each table; after the bride gets the envelope, the members of the table toast.
The florals were simple – blush and white roses, hydrangeas, peonies with astilbe and eucalyptus. The arrangements (ceremony pieces, tables vases, bouquets, and boutonnières) added beautiful touches to the overall setting of our wedding. We loved the stringed duet that’s played at our ceremony. We also loved the personal stories that were shared through our officiant.
Reception:
We had a cute mimosa bar and a fun photo booth compliments of Wayfare Tavern. Benji was set on a green suit and he chose the color based off of fabric samples. He took a lot of time (and effort) in making his suit just how he wanted (as mentioned he hand picked buttons and had those sewn on). Benji’s tie was blush (matched the flowers) and he went for brown shoes. For me I was looking for something beautiful yet affordable. Lulus has the perfect dress, one with a style that mirrored so many dresses I adored in magazines. The shoes were beaded pointy flats with blue bottoms, my “something blue”.
Our Story:
Benji and I met in high school – we don’t remember when exactly. According to his personal story, Benji thought I was a nerd in high school (he was the opposite of that, also according to him). Needless today say, we both ended up moving to the Bay Area and we began to hang out. We enjoyed each other’s company – we started hanging out with friends then we began doing simple things with just the two of us like going to traveling carnivals, movies, and driving aimlessly looking for an adventure. We learned more about one another and developed a strong appreciation for each other leading to us wanted to be with one another more.
