From the couple:
We met in law school in fall of 2013 at Berkeley Law, and began dating that first semester. We were inseparable ever since. John and I got engaged in the fall of 2016 in the city, while John was visiting from Chicago (where he was completing a clerkship in Chicago with a federal judge), and Dennise was starting her first year at her law firm in SF. Dennise’s engagement ring was designed with John’s grandmother’s diamonds.
Theme:
We wanted something classic and modern – and something truly SF which you can really see in our Delancey Street Foundation wedding photos. John is a native San Franciscan, and his love for the city also made me fall in love. We were set on having our ceremony and reception within the city, and also treated our wedding party and guests to a trolley ride!
Style:
I wanted a grand dress for the beautiful church we were getting married in – I opted for a long cathedral veil and train. John always had an affinity for bold colors – so we chose these cobalt dress suits for the men, and blush dresses for the ladies to complement them. And of course, the men wore colorful socks at the groom’s request.
Our flowers were designed by Delancey Street Foundation. The foundation was started by John’s uncle and namesake, and it was his uncle’s life’s work – it has also become an important part of our family – so it was very important to have them be a part of our wedding as much as possible.
Ceremony:
Our ceremony was a mix of traditional and ethnic, including a bit of Mexican traditions – we used Dennise’s parent’s lasso for the ceremony and included a ceremony of the arras presented by Dennise’s godmother. We were so happy we could celebrate at Delancey Street for the reasons stated above. We were especially happy to have the frozen margaritas machines for our guests – everyone who knows John knows about his LOVE for a frozen drink!
